How I got into lost pet search and rescue
"how find lost cat?"
People often ask how I ended up as a pet detective for lost cats.
I show them this photo from 2008 when I lived on a horse farm in Texas. This was my little cabin on Canyon Lake with my horse (Red Rabbit) and my sweet snuggler cat, Mr. Purr.
When Purr went missing for 3 days, I learned firsthand how it feels to have a lost cat.
No one helped me search or even took me seriously in my panic.
Had I listened to their advice of "He'll come back when he's ready," or the old, "Put his litter box outside!" Mr. Purr would have died behind this fence in a rancher's metal shipping container.
I will never forget the joy and relief of finding him, nor the intense stress of the search and worry.
Mr Purr is why I do lost cat search & rescue.
I am a pet detective for missing cats both to save other cats, and support the people in panic mode who're getting the usual myths and bad advice.
I will never forget the experience. And I will never forget you, my beloved soul cat, Mister Purr.
A "How to Find Lost Cat app" is coming. Sign up for news on new lost pet finder apps here:
Finding a lost cat is way more complicated than recovering a missing dog. Ask any pet detective.
A lost cat app could make a difference in getting lost cats found for people who cannot bear to sit down and read a book about Finding missing cats when they're under stress.
If you know anyone who can help develop an app based on pet detective input and decision trees, please use the form above to contact us or call for more info.
